Privacy policy
This policy explains how Paperplane Strategy collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit paperplanestrategy.com or contact us, and the rights you have over that information.
Person responsible for personal information
Paperplane Strategy is a consulting business based in Montréal, Québec. Phil Lieng is the person responsible for the protection of personal information. Questions, requests and complaints about this policy or your personal information can be sent to phil@lieng.ca.
Information we collect
We collect the following personal information:
- Contact form: your name and email address and, if you choose to provide them, your phone number, company name and a description of your request.
- Email: the information included in messages you send us.
- Analytics, with your consent: information about how you use the website, collected through Google Analytics, including pages viewed, referring source, approximate location (city level), and device and browser type. This information does not directly identify you.
- Technical data: our hosting provider automatically records standard server logs, such as IP addresses and pages requested, for security and operational purposes.
How we use it
We use personal information to:
- Respond to your inquiries and provide our services.
- Understand how the website is used and improve it.
We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising purposes.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics is only activated if you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. When activated, it sets two cookies (_ga and _ga_MFSELXDZTW) with a lifespan of up to two years. If you click “Decline,” no analytics cookies are set.
Your choice is stored in your browser for 12 months, after which you will be asked again. You may change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
The website loads fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google’s servers to retrieve them, regardless of your cookie choice.
Service providers
We use the following service providers, which may process personal information on our behalf:
- Netlify: website hosting and contact form submissions.
- Google: Google Analytics (with your consent), Google Fonts and email services.
These providers are located in the United States. As a result, your personal information may be stored and processed outside Québec. We use providers that offer adequate protection for personal information.
Retention
- Contact form submissions and emails: kept as long as necessary to respond to you and manage our business relationship, and no longer than three years after our last communication.
- Analytics data: kept for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted by Google.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. You may also withdraw your consent to analytics at any time using “Cookie settings.” To make a request, contact phil@lieng.ca. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
